The future Of this entire region is very positive.

“We’ll get more research dollars to provide healthcare services in a different way than we’ve done in the past.”

Billie Johnson
President & CEO, Area Office on Aging of NWO, Inc.

Growing research
There is tremendous opportunity to build biomedical research, under the Academic Affiliation, which will sustain and enhance the research and education missions of the College of Medicine.

Research is in fact a key component driving many of the other guiding principles of the Affiliation. It builds jobs, creates opportunity for students and learners, and creates the new knowledge that will improve the health of our community members and people around the world.

“I’m really hopeful that we’ll get more research dollars,” said Billie Johnson, executive director of the Area Office on Aging. “It could help us provide health care services in a different way than we’ve done in the past.”

As the Affiliation continues to take shape, the unique medical partnership will contribute to areas of clinical and research excellence at The University of Toledo and at ProMedica Toledo and Toledo Children’s Hospital. The future academic medical center will provide patients with enhanced access to specialty care and advanced technology.
